Fun with Wallstrip

Friday, December 07, 2007 | 11:15 AM

Last week, we shot an episode of WallStrip. Howard has been chasing me to do this for quite some time, and the truth is, we simply didn't have space until we moved into larger quarters in September.

The show is up today, and fortunately, they edited out some of the really dumb things I said (Is calling someone who works on Wall Street a communist really all that libelous?). We shot prior to the Sub-Prime rescue plan being announced, so that is coincidental. Any references to my going on an enraged machine gun spree -- and there were several -- were removed in light of the mall shootings. Also, they edited out most of the profanity (F*&%$ing CBS!).

Oh, and I asked the cameraman to pull back a little bit (How do you feel about Cleveland?) so you can blame him for  the horrific close ups . . .

I am anxiously awaiting a Wallstrip on DECK which will hopefully feature Lindsay in Uggs and not a whole lot else

More Lindsey. Less Barry.

(Not that there's anything wrong with him)

Posting up some weekly cheesecake, Barry?

(Geez--some people will do anything to get hits) ;-)

Rather than worrying about our oil money going to Venezuela or Iran, let's worry about our oil money going to the nation from which 15 of the 19 911 hijackers got their visas and which supplies an estimated 90% of the suicide bombers in Iraq: Saudi Arabia.

I loved the comments about the "communists" on Wall Street. You were right on the money when you pointed out how the "free market" boys were crying for government help because the market dropped 10%. Weren't these the same people wgo didn't think the government had any business helping Katrina victims?

Great piece. Was it cold in there or something? Lindsey afraid to show you some skin?

Commies. LOL.

Great interview.

I was wondering why there had been a jump in OTC Barrier options on Howard.

Boots make me crazy.

You look great, well-rested and lively

A few "notes" from a producer who misses giving 'em to writers:

1) Fix the windowshade - out of alignment indicates sloppy thinking and indifference - and you are neither.

2) 86 the plant - what is this, Edward Scissorhands? It's crowding you, makes the frame uncomfortable, and distracts.

btw, re strike - bad for me, but they're right - they folded too easily in the past, and the potential $ they lost on DVD is nearly incalculable. More than I missed by selling AAPL under 100.

You need to get on Kudlow and do that.

Posted by: KirkH | Dec 7, 2007 2:28:32 PM

She has a crush on you

I'd like to take her out to a nice seafood dinner and NEVER call her again!

I finally realized the difference between MSM TV people and online video folks - the people on CNBC, CNN, etc. are apparently mutants who don't blink.

BR, Can you get us the hit count on Lindsey's photo? I bet it blows any economic graph you had today by a wide margin...

KirkH:
Did you see Kudlow and Laffer trying to drown out Battipaglia(sp?) yesterday?

Barry... great piece!

Posted by: Strasser | Dec 7, 2007 3:31:06 PM

Would it have killed you to do something about that left eyebrow :)

Posted by: brbrown | Dec 7, 2007 3:35:49 PM

Nice job, BR.

We've had The Fed for quite awhile now, and their job is to keep a lid on inflation and maintain full employment. At least that's what I read on a bathroom wall somewhere.

So is the Fed bailing out the stock market? I don't think so.

I think the Fed is sensing the sluggish economy, which you mentioned. They're also aware that inflation is rather tame, which is contrary to your belief.

So, if the Fed believes that growth is too slow and concerned about future employment, they have the ability to lower rates because inflation is not currently a threat.

And lets face it, the Fed is partly to blame for a sluggish economy as they kept interest rates too high for too long. (In addition to higher energy costs hitting consumer pocketbooks and the real estate recession).

Nice job! I like the commie tag, one which I think applies the whiners that want to be bailed out. The Cramer rant comes to mind.
His 'my people are suffering' is all that needs to be said.

lindsey is the new Maria fartaroma

Posted by: HerbS | Dec 7, 2007 4:47:46 PM

Excellent - thanks for posting. Nice & balanced overview of the economic outlook. Enjoyed the rest of the show. Despite the hassle factor (& Lindsey's a very good interviewer who does her prep and that's hard work) maybe you could do more of these ?

long barry. short his belly.

I just want to say how disappointed I am in all your reader comments on this thread!

I'm sick and tired of nothing but pervasive sexual innuendo at every turn. Some of you should learn a little common decency and respect.

Don't you understand how humiliating it is for a person to have their entire being cast as nothing more than an item of lust!

You ALL should have more self-respect than to allow yourselves to drift into mindless carnality... Barringo is NOT JUST A PIECE OF MEAT!!!

Serious?... Me?... Are you kiddin' me????

HaHa!

I hope I'm not sTruCK suddenly and seriously d-e-a-d before I finish this fantasy I'm havin' about being whipped into submission by black leather and a dried-out dead Bonsai tree root!!

Howard, I have an idea for a skit. You know when they advertise the pills for erectile dysfunction, and they put the boilerplate warnings about priapism lasting longer than 4 hours and the potential for the random case of b-l-i-n-d-n-e-s-s. Well, WTF?… If you can’t enjoy the side effects of the medicine, what’s the point?… hmmm?

Anyway, back to the skit. You could have Lindsey go find one of the cliché couples paired up in two bathtubs sittin’ out in some sunlit meadow that they invariably use for the hardly-challenged medicine in reference. Lindsey could ask ‘em WTF kinda turn-on do they get sittin’ TF out in the middle of a meadow in 2 tubs?… I can think of a number of places, things, musical pieces, visual imagery, sounds, smells and a host of other pleasing stimulants to the enterprise in discussion, but not once can I conjure up me and some honey sittin’ in a meadow in 2 tubs. One tub?… possibly, but porcelain just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s just me.
