Barry,

I heard that Apple was adding iHop to the iPhone.

Soon, you will be able to download pancakes to your iPhone!

Well, there may not have been a multi-touch tablet, but the movie downloads and AppleTV repricing + upgrade have the potential to take a big bite out of cable providers that currently offer 'on-demand' services. Especially if Apple can maintain a rich and diverse rental inventory. One of my biggest problems with cable on-demand rentals is that the limited selection available is frequently packed with sub-B movies and cheesy 'making-of's. At $229 for AppleTV one could probably dump the 'on-demand' cable premium(s) and come out ahead in a few months.

It's all about content and if Apple could'nt get the studios to give them exclusivity (at the risk of alienating it's big box resellers of DVD's) then I'm afraid it is DOA.

until someone gets the coveted content licenses for real movies (not Bio-dome 4) then DVD's will still be viable. Afterall it's just another set-top box (one of many)

Until then it's nothing but lip service.

"Well, there may not have been a multi-touch tablet"

You spoke too soon...

"You spoke too soon..."

Nah, I was referring to the much-rumored (sub)notebook multi-touch tablet that remains vaporous. The 'Air' is nice, and has a multi-touch scratchpad, but the screen doesn't fold all the way back into a tablet configuration.

Yep. I'm not sure AppleTV is there yet, but I think they will get there in a couple of years.

Nothing much to add about Steve Jobs, but I love the MessagePad 2000!

Who can argue that the future of TV is anything other than digital on-demand content delivery, mixed in with Internet-enabled search and browsing? That's the future. And who is ahead in this game by leaps and bounds after today? Apple, of course. You guys should not focus so much on next quarter or 2008 performance and look at it over the coming, say, five years. This is exactly what they should be doing to dominate the market as it emerges...

And btw the ultra-light notebook is beautiful. I will be buying one...
