Last week, President Bush scheduled a Press conference for 10:20am -- the exact same time Bernake's Congressional testimony

That 8 minute clip provided more information on the sate of the economy and the divergent signals we are getting form Washington than the evening news broadcasts could do in an hour.

The shame is that the bushies aren't half as good at dealing with a situation as they are managing the news about it. On a media note how long before a sharp guy like Rupert Murdoch says "What was I thinking, supporting these guys and their ideas" or does does wishfulness trump reality???

That is one of the funniest - saddest videos I've seen in quite some time.
Major media sources should learn something when the primary source for reality-based news is a comedian. And polls confirm many demographics view Stewart as a primary source for news as opposed to the corporate media pumping machines.
Stewart has learned how to make politics and current events cool and engaging by using humor and satire. Political hacks and con men likely view Stewart with disdain. Big mistake.

It shows how far we have fallen that comedian John Stewart and his Daily Show provides the most trenchant commentary of our times.
Corporatization and media consoldiation has made our news media shows more like tragi-comedy rather than news and analysis. Maybe its time to bust up the media cartel!

John Stewart is the man. I saw this the other day and I shared the thoughts that it is a sad state when the most relevant commentary on a country like the US is airing on Comedy Central (no offence intended). All I can add is a quote I found while reading Helen Thomas' recent book (she is truly one of the last real journalists in the business):
Ted Stannard, an academic and former UPI correspondent, put it this way: "When watchdogs, bird dogs, and bull dogs morph into lap dogs, lazy dogs, or yellow dogs, the nation is in trouble."

Man, that was hilarious. Not sure what is funnier though, the clip or those pounding their keyboard calling them idiots. As I see it, they are pulling money out of your pockets w/o doing anything about it. Seems to me the guys walking off with your cash are not so dumb. They must be laughing all the way to their security protected vaults.
