What I'm more curious about is a word cloud weighted inversely by the number of times each word was used. I.e., the words used once are the biggest.

Say what you want about McCain's rhetorical skills, but don't buy the lazy McCain = Bush formulation. McCain is hated by the conservative wing(nut) of the Republican Party because they know he's off the reservation when it comes to immigration, energy policy, campaign finance, and ethics reform. A McCain presidency would not be four more years of Bush; of course, it wouldn't be the same as an Obama presidency, either...

As a former Republican, I agree with Mitchn on one point, McCain <> Bush. Some of you might consider Bush dumb and Cheney evil (I don't), but with McCain, you are entering POW nutcase territory. That is why some Republicans hate McCain and why this Republican is now a Democrat.

The word cloud should include dry holes, starvation, draft, chaos, white trash at Number One Observatory Circle. For whatever reason, McCain got a bump this morning on InTrade but that is steadily dissipating.

Do you think speeches are now vetted by Word Cloud and a focus group of net time wasters like us to see what impression they make?

My 2 cents: I hear from wingnut friends that McCain is a flaming liberal. Trouble is, if he and his hottie just keep up the Bush rhetoric, there is almost no chance of their being elected. It is the economy, stupid.

Macain / Palin have eviscerated Obama /Biden's raison d'etre.

McCain has the experience and record of change and taking on Washington (witness is unpopularity among some Republicans) and Palin is a real American in a real American family with typical American values, problems and life.

A look at McCain's wife reveals diamond jewelry going for $200K and another look at Palin's house shows she couldn't even control her children. How could she control the tie-casting vote at the congress? Let alone her one-heartbeat away nuclear codes.

Yeah, I don't trust this technology now since "my friends" is not the largest word on there. Somethings not right, but I didn't watch the speech, so I guess I'll give benefit of the doubt.

A "my friends" drinking game would never work, way too common phrase.

Your comment is incredibly absurd and naive, and I fear for this country because of people like you 'educating' their family and close friends with your pearls of wisdom and analysis.

Cindy McCain hails from an affluent family, and boasts a plethora of business accomplishments of her own. Are you aware of the philanthropic and social initiatives she has chaired personally, or those which her foundation is responsible for? I fail to see how the price of her jewelry makes her (or her husband) any less qualified to be in the position they're in. What exactly were you getting at with this comment?

Re: "Palin controlling her family", I can only assume you mean that her daughter of seventeen years is pregnant. Do you have children? Have you raised a child through his or her adolescent years? I expect that I've just asked you a rhetorical question - if you had experienced the joys and trials of raising offspring, such a naive comment would have never left your mouth. Hopefully my father's track record as a parent - and mine, of my son - will not be judged solely on any transgressions I may have had as a teen, as one would be sorely mistaken to assume that he was a bad parent as a result of my actions. Incredible statement you made...

I am at a loss for what point you were trying to make, or your qualifications to make such inflammatory, naive statements. Perhaps you might care to elaborate on your thoughts instead of spouting off sound bytes on drilling, jewelry and her daughter.

Okay speech. He did what he had to do and accomplished it. Very honorable man that I think most trust...actually Rasmussen polling shows McCain is more trustworthy.

Anyway, as a conservatgive I would of had a tough time voting for McCain but would of to keep the Dems from owning all three houses. With the addition of Palin I am fully on board. Rasmussen poll also shows most of America has high favorability of Palin.

I respect the opinions of the other side but I don't get all the hatred. It so vitrial on both sides. Reasonable people can disagree but I see a lot of out of touch Americans who can't understand why the entire country can't think like them?

Case in point. The dems won't accept the polls that are coming out showing the race tightening up again and the favorability of Palin. Both sides love to slime the other sides character instead of sticking to the issues. The internet has allowed the hate to increase.

McCain/Palin trying to sell pablum with fake personas with spin to low information voters and fundie Christian wackos.

McCain/Palin running from discussing and debating issues and providing soltions because they have none.

Obama/Biden will knock these pretenders out because the superficial veneer will wear off soon to expose ugly inner core.

Obama/Biden in a landslide victory on Nov 4.

That was for one year, 2007 -- after he had decided to run (again) for the presidency. Cold calculation on his part, for obviosu reasons.

I'm not saying the guy is a liberal, but his past voting record -- and it's a loooooooonnnnnnnnng one -- shows him to be anything but a Bush clone. "Say what you want about McCain's rhetorical skills, but don't buy the lazy McCain = Bush formulation. McCain is hated by the conservative wing(nut) of the Republican Party because they know he's off the reservation when it comes to immigration, energy policy, campaign finance, and ethics reform."

And Climate Change (somewhat), stem cell research, and some other small issues, but on larger economic and foreign policy issues, the two are twins:

* More tax cuts for the Rich & Corporate, more historic federal budget deficits, more failed deregulation, against the Federal Minimum Wage, against universal healthcare, against a Windfall Profits Tax (although his running mate enacted one, and now 89% of the state budget in Alaska is from taxation of oil companies).

* Prolonging the illegal military occupation of Iraq, the desire to attack Iran, and anyone else who dares to disagree.
