I don't know much about the depression, but the emerging markets is very shaky now. Possibly hedge funds are withdrawing their foreign deposits from 3rd world markets. Hungary, Argentina, Turkey etc are feeling the pinch. The dollar shoot up in Turkey 10% in a few hours this morning. Same expected in Hungary.
