Who Owns the Media?

Freepress

If you think the media is "liberal," then perhaps you better think again.  That meme has been successfully pushed by the right wing, despite its obvious falsity.

As this site makes clear, most of the media is owned by large and conservative corporations. They are all too happy for people to think the media is left leaning.

The media is very dedicated to the status quo, and selling you products and services.

Rupert Murdoch is conservative, but FOX TV could in no way be considered conservative.

Does "Who's Your Daddy" reinforce family values? Or how about the "The Littlest Groom." Need I go on?

The owners/shareholders of a company may be conservative, but the capitalist system together with 'the agency problem' ensure that company managers will debauch their content if that is what will increase profits.

European media does tend to more fully reflect the opinions of their owners, however.

When Fox is called conservative, it is not a reference to the broadcast network, but rather to the cable chgannel Fox News.

Anyone who is not a moron knows that.

But you already knew that . . . making you a troll . . . unless you really didn't undestand that, which makes you, well kinda stupid . . .

The original blurb said 'media.'

True or False? FoxTV is part of the media AND owned by a conservative.

The hypothesis was that networks owned by conservatives are conservative.
One counter example disproves that claim.
This is basic logic. Either you say FoxTV is conservative or you change your premise that networks owned by conservatives are conservative.

Perhaps, the hypothesis should be changed to "Networks that we don't like that are owned by conservatives are conservative."

I think you can prove that fairly easily.

I missed where I said FoxNews was great so I'm a bit flummoxed why I should be insulted.

If you think you know what I think because I questioned the logic and imprecision of the statement "If you think the media is "liberal," then perhaps you better think again," you are wrong.

Regardless, I expect I will just hear more thoughtful insults. Hey, why not insult my mother too and really make this a classy discussion?
